Gillian Coates is a Chartered Physiotherapist who trained in Cape Town, South Africa and graduated in 2000 with a BSc in Physiotherapy.

 

From this point, she went straight into private practice, working in a range of fields, including sports rehabilitation, orthopaedics, paediatrics, respiratory, post-operative surgical and elderly care, before opening her own musculoskeletal/sports injuries practice.

In early 2003, Gill moved to the UK where she has worked in various fields, both in private practice and on the NHS as a Senior 1 physiotherapist at St Thomas' Hospital.

She has been based in Chiswick/Hammersmith since December 2004, and set up the PhysioEdge Chiswick clinic in June 2006. In October 2009, PhysioEdge expanded their scope of service, and opened a second branch in Wandsworth.

In February 2008, Gill completed the Diploma in Orthopaedic Medicine. She is also Pilates trained through the Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute (APPI)

Gill is registered with the Health Professions Council of the UK (HPC), as well as the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP). She is also a member of the CSP's Private Practitioners Association, OCPPP (PhysioFirst), the Society of Orthopaedic Medicine (SOM) and the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP)

Karin Siebert

Karin Siebert

Karin Siebert is a Chartered Physiotherapist who trained in Osnabrück, Germany. She initially graduated with a Diploma in Physiotherapy in 2004. She then continued her training to degree level whilst working as a Physiotherapist, graduating with a BSc in Physiotherapy in 2006.

 

Since 2004 Karin has worked in the private healthcare sector in the UK, Germany and Egypt, mainly in musculoskeletal environments. She gained experience with sports rehabilitation, orthopaedics and post operative treatment - among other clinical areas.

In 2008 Karin completed a 2 year further education course in Manual Therapy and has therefore a special interest in spinal conditions and sacroiliac joint problems.

Karin is registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC) and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).

 

EmmaEmma Johnston

BSc (Physio) UCT, MCSP

Emma Johnston is a Chartered Physiotherapist who qualified in 2007 at the University of Cape Town, South Africa with a Bsc(Hons) in Physiotherapy.

 

On completion of her studies, she worked in Durban, South Africa, where she practiced in-patients and out-patient physiotherapy at one the Government Hospitals. Here she covered a few specialities, including respiratory, paediatrics orthopaedics, plastics (burns), post-operative surgical and outpatients at the community clinics.

In 2009 Emma moved to the UK where she worked in the NHS in respiratory, post-operative surgical and care of the elderly until moving into an out-patient role.  In January 2010 she moved over to the private practice sector.

Emma has completed her Acupuncture training course (ALIED) and Pilates Matwork through the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute. She has an interest in sports injuries and has been on several sports related training courses. She also has worked for various Rugby Teams, both in South Africa and also in the UK.

She is registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC) and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).

Chris butler physioChris Butler

Chris Butler is a Chartered Physiotherapist who trained in Auckland, New Zealand and graduated from the Auckland University of Technology in 2003 with a Bachelor of Health Science- Physiotherapy.

After graduating Chris worked in private practice in Auckland for two and a half years treating a wide variety of injuries and conditions.  Over this time he also developed his skills in the sports injury and rehabilitation field. He has worked for a number of regional rugby and football sides and also has interests in skiing/snowboarding, running, tennis and surfing.

In 2006 the travel bug hit Chris and he moved to Ireland to play semi-professional rugby for a season. After surviving the Irish winter Chris spent three months travelling Europe and then settled in London in 2007. Since then he has had a variety of work including private practice, NHS outpatients, and corporate in-house physiotherapy. Chris has also spent a ski season in Whistler, Canada and still plays rugby in London.

Chris has completed his Acupuncture training course and regularly attends course and lectures on sports specific injuries and orthopaedics to further expand his skill base.

Chris is registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC) and is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP) and the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP).

 

Matt Payne physioMatt Payne

BHSc (Physio), PG Dip, MCSP

Matt is a Chartered Physiotherapist who trained in Auckland, New Zealand and graduated from the Auckland University of Technology in 2004 with a Bachelor of Health Science- Physiotherapy degree. He worked in private practice for two years treating primarily sports injuries, but also was involved in community and school treatment clinics. In 2006 Matt relocated to London to play a season of club cricket. The London way of life and the travel opportunities proved too tempting and he has stayed since.  

Upon arriving in London, Matt initially spent 2 years working at King Edward VII Hospital, a prestigious private hospital treating mainly orthopaedic conditions. He has since worked in various private practices in Central London including the West End and the Houses of Parliament before joining PhysioEdge.  Matt has a particular interest in treating traumatic shoulder injuries and lower limb biomechanical injuries.

Matt has a passion for treating sports injuries of all types having previously played premier level cricket both in New Zealand and the UK. Matt has worked with a number of sporting teams including provincial level rugby, football and cricket, often involving national and international tours. He currently works for New Zealand Cricket as the head physio for the New Zealand under 19 side.

Matt has recently completed his postgraduate degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine. This has given him an insight into the most up to date treatment methods which he looks to use on all his patients, whether an elite athlete or weekend warrior! Matt is acupuncture trained and is a member of the CSP

Shannon Sparg

BSc (Physio), MCSP

Shannon Sparg graduated with her Physiotherapy (Honours) Degree in Durban, South Africa in 2003. Since then she has worked in various fields of physiotherapy including Private Practice, NHS in-patient and post-operative rehabilitation, and in the Occupational Health sector for The London Fire Brigade. She has also done some part-time work for the Amateur Swimming Association working with “up-and-coming” young swimmers, and been the physiotherapist for a local club rugby team. She therefore has a keen interest in sporting injuries, however enjoys any musculo-skeletal challenges her patients may present with.

She is keen to expand her skills to the field of pregnancy and post-pregnancy treatment and rehabilitation as well.
Shannon is passionate about people and believes that the relationship between the therapist and the patient is an important part of their rehabilitation.

She believes in a “hands-on” approach to treating injuries, but also realises the importance of educating her patients to help them in preventing the recurrence of similar injuries in the future. She combines her “hands-on” approach together with injury-specific exercises to help her patients get back to their best.

Kate Hibbert

Kate is a chartered physiotherapist who graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 2003 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy.

Kate began in the NHS, working in different areas including Respiratory, Orthopaedics, Outpatients and Elderly care before specialising in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.

Kate is Pilates trained through the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) and is also acupuncture certified (AACP).

She is registered with the Health Professions council and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

 

Erika Carvalho

BSc(Physio), MCSP

Erika obtained her BSc in Physiotherapy in 2006 in Brazil, her country of origin. She then developed an interest in Lymphoedema Treatment (Method Foldi Clinic - Germany) and Cellulite/Fat located with Endermologie Technique.

 

She is a certified Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Pregnancy Massage therapist and has worked extensively in the field.

She has been in the UK since 2008 working in the private sector, and gained a wealth of experience in general musculoskeletal conditions and has significant experience in post-operative plastic surgery as well as Lymphoedema Treatment. She forms part of the PhysioEdge team in the capacity of Manual Lymphatic Drainage specialist.

Erika is registered with Health Professions Council (HPC) and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), and is acupuncture certified.

 

SamiaSamia Gomez

BSc(hons) Sports Therapy

After graduating from the London Metropolitan University with a BSc(hons) in Sports Therapy, Samia Gomez completed a course in Biomechanical Screening. Is the combination of these two qualifications which helped her, not only see how the body works, but understand why it works that way.

When she is not working in the Chiswick clinic she is busy helping skiers and snowboarders deal with aches and pains in the French Alps. Her 'no problem' approach took her to travel on tour across 4 different European Countries with a marathon runner who successfully completed 50 consecutive marathons in 50 days. A passion to keep learning takes her every year to take care of sports individuals at the London Marathon, Edinburgh marathon, Great Manchester run as well as the several quadrathlons around the UK.

She has competed as a professional snowboarder, attending contests all over the world, and is sought after as a therapist in Europe, especially during ski season.

'Sports Therapy is an extremely rewarding profession to be in. It is very satisfying to see the effects of treatment in improving a patients well being and quality of life. Treating individuals who are desperate to return to sport and are totally committed to hard work, is very inspiring'

Samia is an active member of the Society of Sports Therapists in the UK. Has a certificate in Sports and Swedish Massage (Vocational Training Charitable Trust), as well as Pregnancy Massage (Sussex School of Therapeutic Massage).

 

Coretta Hart

BSc(hons) Sports Therapy

Coretta completed a BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy from London Metropolitan University in 2009

 

Coretta was inspired by the benefits of massage from the beginning of her Sports Therapy degree. This led to her completing her VCTC Certificate in Swedish Massage in 2008. Following which, she further developed her sports massage skills whilst working for professional Rugby and Football teams.

Through this she has gained insight into the demands and treatment requirements of elite athletes.

Coretta was a competitive athlete while living in South Africa, and currently enjoys cycling and swimming as part of her main sporting activities.

She is a member of the Society of Sports Therapists.

 

Josefin  Ivarsson

BSc(Hons) Sports Therapy

Josefin graduated from London Metropolitan University with a 2:1 in Sports Therapy BSc (Hons) in 2009.

 

She has been working with a semi-professional football club during their last two seasons and attending different sporting events providing pre and post-sports massage to athletes. This has led to a further development of her skills, knowledge and understanding of the demands of different sports and exercise.

 

Sport, activity and health are a passion for her. She has competed at professional level at Ten Pin Bowling while living in Sweden, as well as show jumping. She is also a keen runner and pilates enthusiast.

 

Josefin is a member of the Society of Sports Therapists.

 

 
Hajni Varadi MAssage TherapistHajnalka Varadi

Sports, Remedial & Pregnancy Massage Therapist

Hajni completed her Certificate in Swedish Massage in 2005 in Italy. She moved to London shortly thereafter, and studied further, received ITEC Holistic Massage Diploma in 2009.

 

She then completed the Practitioner Diplomas in Indian Head Massge, Pregnancy Massage, Manual Lymphatic Drainage and Hot Stone Massage.

She is fully qualified to teach baby massage classes, and runs them from the PhysioEdge Wandsworth site.

Hajni plans to increase her knowledge base by studying Diet and Nutrition and other remedial therapies over the course of 2010.
